Which carbamide peroxide gel should I use?
Our FDA safety approved carbamide peroxide tooth whitening gels are manufactured specifically for us by Premiere, a well respected American dental supplier. This world leading brand has a full safety approval of the FDA. The Manufacturing facility is inspected twice a year to make sure that the stringent requirements of the FDA are adhered to.
Our carbamide peroxide gels have been specially formulated for a more pleasant taste, increasing the comfort for the wearer.
Our carbamide peroxide tooth whitening gel comes in two strengths: strong and sensitive. This page explains what this means:
Many acidic carbamide peroxide tooth whitening gels on the market can damage your teeth but Whiter Than White gels are safe and have a neutral pH value of 6.8 - 7.2. The active ingredients in our gels are 16% carbamide peroxide (strong gel), and 11% carbamide peroxide (sensitive gel).
If you were to buy a tooth whitening kit from a retail outlet they would sell a sodium perborate gel, not a carbamide peroxide gel. This would remove some surface stains, but would be only moderately effective in whitening teeth and wouldn't get rid of the intrinsic (external) stains. The only legal place to buy Carbamide peroxide is your dentist.
The carbamide peroxide gels both work by breaking down in the mouth to produce water and significantly, oxygen. The oxygen easily penetrates teeth, where it safely and effectively oxidises stains.
Our 11% carbamide peroxide (sensitive) gel works more gradually than our strong gel because it has to work harder to break down first into hydrogen peroxide, then oxygen, which whitens the teeth. It is also suitable for overnight use.
Whiter Than White's 16% carbamide peroxide (strong) gel works more quickly than the 11% carbamide peroxide as it is of a higher percentage and therefore requires less treatment-time.
Whiter Than White's strong gel (16% carbamide peroxide) whitens teeth quickly, and you need use it for just two 40-minute sessions a day, (or a maximum of three sessions per day).
Our sensitive gel (11% carbamide peroxide) is for those with more sensitive teeth and gums. This gel works just as well as the strong gel, but more gradually, and should be used twice a day, for an hour at a time or overnight
For very heavily stained teeth it may take up to a month to get the whiteness you are looking for using carbamide peroxide, so stick with it! And be reasonable. If you follow the instructions correctly you will get up to eight shades whiter, but it won't happen overnight.
These carbamide peroxide percentages are recommended standards across Europe. If you are unsure which to go for, just remember that our strong tooth whitening gel works quickly. Because it is a stronger gel, it can cause sensitivity in some people, but its main benefit is that is has a short treatment-time. To read more about reducing sensitivity click here.
