Laser Whitening
Laser whitening, also known as power bleaching is a tooth whitening process which must be done at the dentist. Laser whitening uses a very strong hydrogen peroxide gel (35%) and takes about one and a half hours to whiten teeth. Very dark staining may require a few sessions of laser whitening. The dentist speeds up the whitening process by using a high energy light (either a laser or plasma arc light) and it requires the application of gum protection.
Dentists prefer mouth tray systems rather than laser whitening because the more gradual whitening process appears slower to revert shade. The dental press also shows that laser whitening can revert more quickly to the starting shade. The cost of laser whitening or power bleaching is £500 plus.
